Founded on March 18, 1900 AFC Ajax is one of the largest and most storied clubs in European football. After their founding and acceptance into Dutch Football Ajax spent ten seasons in the country's second division before earning promotion for the 1911 season. The move to the first division did not last long though as just three seasons later the club was relegated for the first and only time in its illustrious history.

The entrance of the football stadium Amsterdam Arena houses the first, the one and the only genuine Ajax Museum, exhibiting the history of the Amsterdam football heroes.In total, Ajax has won the national championship 27 times and 25 important international prizes -- placing the club amongst the best in Europe. What began as a group of mates has become an international wonder. The Ajax Museum contains photos, personal belongings of famous players, and television images of important matches and historic goals of team players such as Marco van Basten, the De Boer brothers, and Edgar Davids -- but also heroes from even longer ago.

Dutch football manager, coach and former player. He was named European Footballer of the Year three times (1971, 1973, 1974) which is a record jointly held with Michel Platini and Marco van Basten. Cruyff was the most famous exponent of the football philosophy known as Total Football, developed by Rinus Michels. After his retirement from playing in 1984, Cruyff became highly successful as manager of Ajax and later FC Barcelona.He remains an influential advisor to both clubs.
